Incorporación de tecnologías de industria 4.0 en plataforma educativa del departamento de Casanare

1. Scope Description

Within the framework of the “CTEI Capacity Building Project for Educational Innovation in Basic and Secondary Education through the Use of ICTs in Official Institutions in the Department of Casanare” , the need to create an immersive experience in the educational field has been estimated, which can serve on the one hand to present certain training materials in a more innovative and simple way, but on the other hand ensures or at least facilitates the appropriation of the contents by the students. 

The experience will consist of creating an immersive experience that incorporates both 3D objects and 360º videos.

2. Description and justification of the proposal

Based on the experience of applying 3D content in the education sector, through a series of projects already carried out by TECNALIA in educational centers, and taking into account a series of reports and studies in the training sector, it has been selected that the immersive experience be oriented to create content related to Spatial Geometry , which is a subject in which children in first and second grade have learning difficulties, due to the difficulty of interpreting three-dimensional space in a flat 2D medium such as a book or a computer screen.

Various studies around the world highlight this difficulty and propose various mechanisms for improving learning ability. This is why the project focused on using a tool that:

Allow children to play with a series of basic 3D geometric elements, so that they can identify certain concepts in the geometric figures, such as identifying sides and edges, and then formulate a series of questions that the children can answer.

Furthermore, it allows children to identify the geometric figures studied in a real 360º video environment, so they can reinforce their knowledge through the vision of geometric elements in the real world.

3. Objectives 

  • Interact with a series of basic 3D geometric elements, so that certain concepts can be highlighted in the geometric figures.
